Summer forest

This is one of my first paintings. I really like this piece because of its atmosphere. It gives me this light and slightly careless feeling of summer. I have a gigantic wallpaper illustrating forest in my room (those of you who use Instagram might have seen it in the background of some of my posts) and that’s what inspired me to paint.

I can’t talk to you much about techniques or other technical moments that I have used simply because I do not have any art education and I do not know enough about those discuss them with you, let alone to use in my painting. I paint what I see and what I feel and that, I think, is the most important thing about art.

What I can tell you is that I like to experiment with colours. Here, for example, I was very happy when the colour palette I was trying to create worked so well. The red and orange trees in the front almost look like they are catching sun strays and then using them to produce this warm glow. The greens and blues provide this sense of perspective, making the forest deeper. And the yellow shades of the grass make the painting look even more sunny and summery. The different colour shades make the whole composition look very alive and I think they are the reason for the visual lightness and cheerfulness of the piece.

At the moment this painting is hanging on one of the walls in my living room and I think it will hang there for a long time because I am not planning to sell this one.

Let me know what do you guys think! If you like it, I could create more forest pieces.

Meanwhile, here are some photos that I used as an inspiration for this painting. Have a look, maybe you will get inspired too!

P.S. Last three photos were taken from google images.
