During my holidays in Miami I visited one beautiful place that I would like share with you. Located right next to the downtown there is a little paradise called the Vizcaya Villa. It was built in the early 20th century and was home to a wealthy businessman James Deering and his wife. Not only the house is enormous size and has lots of rooms but it is also surrounded by a stunning garden and a bay.
Unfortunately, there were no cameras allowed inside the villa so I can’t share with you the rich interior of it. I am afraid you would have to visit it yourself to see the house in its full glory. What I can tell you is that the villa was built specifically for Miami weather. A large open space with a light decor in the dining and guest rooms, and darker and cooler shades in the bedrooms to give some time to rest from the boiling sun. I always enjoy this kind of trips when you get to walk around the house and see how people used to live. I find it very fascinating to look at a dining table and imagine how decades and decades ago people used to sit there, eating breakfast and making plans for the day. It gives me this very weird feeling of excitement.
That would be enough about the villa itself. Just get yourself a holiday in Miami and spare a day to investigate the wonders of the 20th-century architecture and decor. What I would like to show you is the garden that surrounds the villa. It is gigantic and is everything you could possibly want from a garden. Picturesque sights, rich colours and lots of green. It is a very popular location for photo shoots and wedding events. For obvious reasons.
What I like the most about the villa is that it is located on the coast of the bay. I visited Vizcaya in the middle of January and as you can see from photos it wasn’t particularly cold. It can get very hot in Miami, especially in summer. That’s why it is great to have water nearby, providing a nice breeze. I can’t possibly imagine how awesome it was to live in a place like this… Must have been a nightmare to maintain thou. It is still a nightmare to maintain with all those infinite flowers and bushes and alleys and God knows what else.
If you like gardens, big villas and long walks, I would definitely advise you to visit Vizcaya. And don’t forget to take some water and a pair of comfy shoes with you!
Thank you for visiting my blog! Good day to you all!
